ImprESS – Improving Academic and Professional Education Capacity in Serbia in the Area of Safety & Security (by Means of Strategic Partnership with the EU)

The basic idea of the project is that the academic capacities for education in the countries in the process of joining the EU should be improved in order to meet the new needs and challenges in Europe. The project can contribute to this problem by strengthening capacity building in the field of academic and professional education in the field of security and protection.

The ImprESS project intends to improve this in the following way: through a strategic partnership (“knowledge alliance”) it will establish a model (work package 2) for improving educational capacities in the field of “sectoral skills alliance” in the field of security and protection. Based on this model, a sample of educational infrastructure (curriculum, modules, courses, academic and para-academic educational activities) will be established and implemented in Serbia. Once established, the infrastructure will be used to improve the existing educational capacity of the 5 participating universities in Serbia. Improved capacities at five Serbian universities, along with those supporting EU academic institutions, will be integrated into the Regional Center for Training and Education in the Field of Security and Safety (TESS). The center will also integrate the need for high-speed / high-capacity computer support for simulation exercises required for advanced training and include the most advanced techniques and technologies in the field (agent-based modeling, data mining, web semantics, image processing, artificial intelligence, interactive visualization, etc. .). The experiences and results of the project will be published as a model for possible improvement in other countries (eg other non-EU countries, which are closely related to security and protection issues in the EU). The consortium will include 2 private universities in Serbia, 3 public universities and leading universities in Europe (Germany, Italy and Poland).
